Electric Vehicle Detection at Charging Stations

EV Detection Sensors for Charging Stations

Electric Vehicle Detection at Charging Stations

ICEing, or owners of conventional internal combustion engine vehicles parking in EV charging spots, is an annoyance for both drivers of electric vehicles, and charge point operators (CPOs). EV drivers can’t charge their cars, and CPOs lose out on revenue.

Additionally, EVs can overstay their welcome and occupy the charger after their battery is charged.

NOVELIC’s 60 GHz mmWave radars can detect the presence of vehicles in set zones, and determine if the vehicle is unwelcome in conjunction with the charging system.

Charging point operators can receive accurate alerts for ICEing or overstays and react accordingly.

As opposed to camera-based systems, mmWave radars don’t require external processing in order to detect vehicles, making them more power-efficient for charging stations. The sensor can be invisibly integrated into the charging station itself, with no risk of tampering and vandalism.

Our radar sensors work reliably even in adverse weather conditions, poor visibility, or extreme temperatures.
