NOVELIC at AutoSens Europe and InCabin Europe 2024

AutoSens and InCabin Europe 2024 reaffirmed where the automotive industry is heading – towards software-defined solutions providing safety and comfort for drivers and passengers. NOVELIC presented its cutting-edge radar solutions, showcasing innovative concepts for in-cabin monitoring, as well as next-generation park assist sensors.
From the 8th to the 10th of October, industry-leading OEMs, Tier 1s, and Tier 2s convened in Barcelona, tackling questions of sensor fusion, perception systems, signal processing, and the adoption of in-cabin monitoring systems, with the hot-button topic of NCAP-mandated child presence detection.
NOVELIC is already well-known for its ACAM in-cabin monitoring solution, leveraging radar to provide safety and comfort features, including child presence detection, seat occupancy detection, and intrusion & proximity alert – now with the addition of vital signs monitoring for the driver.

Together with Infineon, NOVELIC showcased the viability of mmWave radar as an in-cabin monitoring technology with a live demo on the exhibition floor, allowing attendees to see a realistic application scenario of a passenger vehicle.

Another focus of the sessions at AutoSens was the importance of reducing system cost and complexity for OEMs. ASPER200 – NOVELIC’s innovative concept for park assist, proposes the replacement of commonplace ultrasonic sensors with just one 79 GHz radar sensor per side of the vehicle – while also bringing additional functionality at a comparable system cost.

At the AutoSens Press Briefing, Dr. Veselin Branković, NOVELIC’s Program Manager for parking solutions, stressed the advantages of mmWave radar for park assist – including increased accuracy, range, robustness, as well as the novelty in NOVELIC’s approach, with edge processing, and a wide 180° field-of-view achieved with the sensor.
With just four sensors needed to cover all sides of a passenger vehicle, ASPER200 can replace ultrasonic systems at a comparable system cost, while enabling optional features such as kick-to-open and door/tailgate protection, giving OEMs the opportunity to provide better value for their customers.
AutoSens and InCabin Europe 2024 once again captivated attendees with productive roundtable discussions, valuable industry insights, and exciting technology demos from all corners of the automotive industry. Our team had a great time showing our latest developments, and we’re looking forward to next year’s edition!
